Switchback recently got back from another trip to River Cottage Adventure! Two staff members and two Trainees made the trip down to the Dorset / Devon border for a couple of days, braving the wind and rain to set up camp on Trill Farm. Despite the initial shock at the remote spot, Trainees SM and RSS got back to basics; cooking dinner with little equipment, toasting marshmallows on the campfire and experimenting with how close you can get to a cow!!
The second day was all about Park Farm, where the Trainees took part in a bread-making course, joined the kitchen staff team to help prepare the evening meal, made pizzas in the wood-fired oven, got the seal of approval for their freshly-baked loaves from Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall himself before ending a fine day with a meal at the River Cottage Canteen.
