“Life doesn’t have to go back to what your reality was, there is that possibility of change” – Raihan.

On Tuesday Switchback’s Office Coordinator Raihan Miah and Mentor Kameran Johnsepar appeared on Voice of Islam Radio to join a debate on justice reform, punishment, and whether people leaving prison are prepared for release.

Kameran and Raihan, who are also both members of Switchback’s Experts by Experience Board, spoke about their own experiences as well as those of the young men we work with, stressing the need for more 1-to-1 support.

They also spoke about the success of the Switchback programme, which provides intensive 1-to-1 support both before and after release from prison, emphasising that just 9% of Switchback Trainees reoffend within a year compared to 50% nationally.
