We believe prison-leavers must be recognised as a vulnerable group at risk of severe illness from coronavirus due to high incidence of underlying health conditions, homelessness and poor access to services.
Along with four other specialist small charities working to support successful resettlement, Switchback is calling for urgent action to ensure that the Covid-19 crisis does not further increase ill-health, homelessness, reoffending and risk of infection among the 5,000+ people released monthly into our communities. The government must ensure that people in prison aren’t put at even greater risk when they are released during this pandemic.

We will be continuing to work with government, officials and partners to ensure support for prison-leavers throughout this crisis. Get in touch to work with us via sam@switchback.org.uk.
