Inspirational fitness expert LJ Flanders , author of Cell Workout, and his crew are leading a massive Eight-Hour Burpee Challenge in the heart of the city of London to raise funds for Switchback.
From midday until 8pm on Wednesday 11 April 2018, LJ, the Cell Workout crew and Switchback will be based at Bishops Square, at the west end of Spitalfields Market, inviting friends and passers-by to keep the burpees going for eight whole hours – and getting sponsored for their efforts! A burpee, or squat thrust, is a full (and full on!) body exercise, performed in four steps – moving from standing to squatting, to a plank position, back to a squat and returning to stand.
Switchback and Cell Workout both share the same commitment to helping young men in, and leaving, prison to make positive changes in their lives. We’ve been supporting each other for a while now, and both organisations made it to the Criminal Justice Awards 2017 where Switchback was shortlisted for the Outstanding Organisation Award, and, LJ took home the Outstanding Individual Award.
Want to find out more about bodyweight training? Want to support Switchback’s work helping young men live life differently on release? Then head to Spitalfields on 11 April to take part!
If you can’t make it down on the day, you can always make a donation to support Switchback’s work here.
