“We’ve got to get men opening up a bit more” – Lewis Clark

For the latest in our Speaks With Switchback series – conversations shining a light on important topics affecting people in the justice system – we sat down with personal trainer Lewis Clark for a frank discussion about mental health.

Senior Mentor Kameran and Lewis were cellmates in HMP Onley, and the pair were reunited at Black Prince Trust in front of an audience of Switchback Trainees to share their experiences with mental health both inside and outside prison.

“We’ve got to get men opening up a bit more,” Lewis said, as he spoke about the impact that being released from prison can have on your mental health as well as the challenges of getting the help you need on the inside.

A massive thank you to Kameran and Lewis for their bravery and honesty on this topic. It was an inspirational conversation and we hope it encourages more young men to talk about their mental health.
