Switchback Trainees attended the State of London debate at Methodist Central Hall in Westminster. The event saw Boris Johnson speak about the key issues affecting London right now. Many topics were covered by an often agitated audience; particularly the Firemens’ Union gave Boris a hard time about the cuts the service is facing, frequently heckling him. The Switchback Trainees also felt that questions about jobs and apprenticeships for young people, and housing, were particularly relevant to them. Afterwards, the group had the opportunity to meet Boris Johnson ‘backstage’ and have their picture taken with him. It was a last opportunity to remind him of their main concerns around housing and work before he cycled off!
