“I’m deeply proud of the team and all that we’ve achieved together”: Switchback CEO Sian Williams to step down

By October 22, 2026No Comments

After four years at Switchback, our CEO Sian Williams will step down in January 2027 to take up a new role as CEO of the financial education charity, Money Ready.

Sian joined Switchback in September 2022, following co-founder Alice Dawnay’s departure, bringing with her a wealth of knowledge and experience in financial inclusion, policy and co-production with local communities.

Throughout her time at Switchback Sian has led the team to deliver our ambitious 3-year plan, more than doubling the number of young men we support each year and expanding our campaigning work by amplifying the voice and experience of Switchback Trainees. Sian has continually put Trainees at the heart of all our work, including introducing Participatory Action Research to ensure that Trainees are directly shaping our influencing work.

Sian Williams says:

“It’s been an honour to lead Switchback, working alongside an incredible team of passionate, skilled and creative people. In the four years since taking over the reins from our amazing founder, Alice Dawnay, we’ve continued to put Trainees at the heart of all we do. Perhaps most importantly, their lived experience of life after release drives all our powerful policy and public perception influencing work. Whilst I’m sad to be leaving Switchback at such an exciting time of growth and ambition, I’m deeply proud of the team and all that we’ve achieved together. I know that they will continue to make a huge impact on the lives of young Londoners and help change public perception of what people leaving prison can contribute.”

Julie Powell, Chair of Trustees, says:

“On behalf of everyone at Switchback, we would like to send our heartfelt thanks to Sian and all that she has achieved in her time at Switchback.  She has embodied our Switchback values and will be leaving an organisation that is stronger, bigger and on the cusp of new dreams and ambitions.

Sian will be much missed by all the Board, and it is with a heavy heart that we will be saying goodbye. However, we are so excited about the next stage of her journey and remain confident that she will always be a strong champion for Switchback and an eloquent ambassador for those leaving prison and having the opportunity to live life differently.

Thank you again Sian for all you have done.”

We will be sharing details of our new five-year plan and our approach to finding our next CEO very soon.
