New partnership Paper & Cup

By September 2, 2013December 7th, 2014No Comments
Run as a social enterprise, Paper & Cup gives people in recovery from addiction and long-term unemployment, real work experience and employment training in a fun, safe and professional environment; a place where people can grow and learn. The cafes are bright, cool spaces that also sell books and Switchback is working with the one at Arnold Circus, E2.
Trainees there learn how to become baristas, serve customers, work in a team and manage a small cafe. This way they build their employability and move on to find other work or training.
Three weeks ago the first Switchback Trainee started regular shifts at Paper & Cup and we are hoping he is the pioneer in a long line of Trainees who will benefit from the opportunity. Switchback is very proud of this new found partnership and grateful for flexibility that means Trainees can start a positive routine immediately on release. Brilliant stuff.
We’re really excited to have Paper & Cup on board as another option alongside the Crisis Skylight Cafe and FoodCycle for when Trainees first come out of prison. We’re really looking forward to all the possibilities and we recommend a visit to sample the coffee and cakes… and the brilliant customer service!
